Ronda Rousey DESTROYED In 48 Seconds: Analysis and Breakdown

Well if you're anything like me you watched all of the build up, any good media coverage you could find and speculated with friends as to what we expected when the infamous Ronda Rousey returned. You stayed up into the early hours to watch this incredible event and how it was going to go down.

Ronda Rousey was knocked out at UFC 207 in 48 seconds of the first round.

This result left many of us in shock, angry and disappointed. Some people expected this result and most of us knew it was very possible. Personally I was kind speechless but also disappointed, my colleague and friend was angry and all those emotions are perfectly acceptable.

When you look at the fight it's very obvious what happened. Rousey was simply not ready. Nunes landed her first punch and rocked Rousey's head back and Rousey thought "OH SHIT!!" she completely lost her head and her confidence. She had absolutely no guard, it was truly embarrassing. Honestly it looked like an amateur fighter's first fight against an experienced pro.

Amanda cracked her with several big shots and she didn't even close the distance or move out or even close her guard. It honestly was like a beginner getting hit hard for the first time. She stayed right on the end on Amanda's punches and full absorbed Amanda's power strikes.

The big question is what on earth did Ronda spend a year doing?? Rousey had over a year to get over her loss and get back into training. But instead I can't even imagine what she actually did. What she should have done is spend a lot of time with a sports psychologist and worked out all of the issues she had.

The massive issue was her boxing and maybe the most criticized thing by the media and the public was her boxing and head coach Edward Tarverdyan. He's been highly criticized for awful cornering in the Holly Holm where she needed to be told technical advice followed by strong motivation because she was getting her ass handed to her but instead he said yes yes that was perfect. Ronda absolutely needed to change camps after the last fight and she did not, the result is a 48 second knockout. Theres is also a very contentious issue of if she did any heavy sparring because that looked like the first time she'd been hit since the KO.

One thing we can't do is take anything away from Amanda Nunes. She executed a perfect gameplan although that was the easiest fight of her career
