UFC 197: THE BIGGEST RETURN EVER???

Daniel Cormier VS Jon Jones
Is the return of the former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones the biggest return ever? Jon Jones is the pound-for-pound number 1 fighter in the UFC, a champion who has never lost his belt inside the octagon and in most peoples eyes is undefeated. In his way stands Daniel Cormier, the current champion, since his loss to Jones in January of 2015 he beat the number 2 and 3 contenders Alexander Gustafson and Anthony Johnson. Daniel Cormier's submission of Anthony Johnson was one of his most impressive victories after weathering an early storm of huge punches from Johnson.

DC is arguably better than their last encounter and the big question is will this fight go the same way as the last one and unfortunately I can't find many ways that it will be different. Jon Jones is now more determined and much stronger, I feel it will be very hard for DC to land a takedown and Jones' attacks will now have more effect. Also if Jones learns to properly use his huge 12 inch reach advantage which he failed to do in the last fight then it will be a very long fight for Daniel. The only chance I see DC having is Jones gassing out in the later rounds with the added muscle he now has.

So unfortunately for Daniel my prediction is that Jones will return with a bang and will finish Daniel in the later rounds, 4 and 5, to return to the top of the light heavyweight division and the UFC.

UFC 197: The Main Card

The UFC 197 card is being massively overshadowed by the prospect of UFC 200. However, for those who haven't looked past the main event, it is a very very good card which includes 2 incredible title fights, a fight between a former champion and a top 10 ranked brutal knockout artist, a top 15 ranked fight between 2 experienced fighters and a fight between 2 exciting up and coming fighters. This is a packed card to return to Las Vegas!
There will be future articles about the championship fights and the Pettis VS Barboza fight.

UFC Fight Night: Zagreb, Croatia

This weekend we have another UFC Fight Night from the city of Zagreb in Croatia. On Sunday the 10th of April, the two heavyweight contenders Ben Rothwell and Junior Dos Santos will fight for a potential title shot pending the absence of Cain Velasquez.

The Main Event
This is an interesting match-up as both men have crippling 1 punch knock out power, Dos Santos usually has a higher punch output than Rothwell and therefore has a higher chance of winning by KO/TKO. Dos Santos can submit people, however, he is much less likely to attempt a submission against Rothwell who is one of the divisions most dangerous Jiu Jitsu practitioners with his recent submission of Josh Barnett he is now only second to the champion Fabricio Werdum and possibly Frank Mir in his submission abilities.
My pick for the fight is hesitantly Ben Rothwell. This is because he's on a 4 fight win streak and he has more ways to finish the fight although I say it very hesitantly as Dos Santos has the ability to end the fight at any point and has demonstrated so many times. I don't think cardio is on the side of any particular fighter so I don't think that will be a winning factor, If the fight goes to the ground then I believe Rothwell will submit Dos Santos but Rothwell can also finish him on the feet.

UFC 200, Potential match-ups

UFC 200 is hopefully going to be night of huge fights and incredible superfights, there's been a lot of speculation and a lot of people saying who they want to see. These are the people I want to see fight on that card:

Georges Saint Pierre VS Robbie Lawler
Conor McGregor VS Frankie Edgar
Cain Velasquez VS Fabricio Werdum
Luke Rockhold VS Vitor Belfort
Stephen Thompson VS Rory McDonald (already scheduled) OR
Stephen Thompson VS Robbie Lawler
Uriah Faber VS TJ Dillashaw
Jose Aldo VS Max Holloway
Khabib Nurmagomedov VS Rafael Dos Anjos
Jon Jones VS Anthony Johnson
Rashad Evans VS Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
Miesha Tate VS Ronda Rousey OR
Miesha Tate VS Holly Holm

Obviously some of these are unlikely but these would make for an incredible and unforgettable card!
What match-ups would you like to see?

UFC 200! Confirmed, rumours and the Conor McGregor conversation

UFC 200 is set to be the biggest MMA fight card of all time. With several fighters campaigning to be on the card, match-making has never been more important. So far the verbally agreed fights are:

Gegard Mousasi VS Derek Brunson
Conor McGregor VS Nate Diaz 2 (very likely)
Cain Velasquez VS Travis Browne

Lets talk about these potential match-ups. A very rocky start? Hopefully a lot more big name fighters to be released. Everyone knew that McGregor would be on the UFC 200 card but I think a lot more people wanted to see him drop back to featherweight (145) and defend his belt against Frankie Edgar. A lot of people are calling for this for a few reasons:

1) Frankie has been owed a title shot for a long time and has been overlooked several times, especially after his 1st round KO of Chad Mendes.
2) It would be an incredible fight and on a full fight camp is the best match up to potentially beat Conor McGregor.
3) It makes a lot of sense for Conor. After his recent loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 197 and a seeming loss of unstoppable momentum (although there is still a strong momentum due to his superstar profile) to go back down and prove that he is still the best featherweight fighter in the division and the true champion.

The proposed rematch between McGregor and Diaz has some interest in that for McGregor if he wins he is thrust back to the top of the UFC and a whole bunch of new match-ups, divisions and championships. If Diaz wins it proves that the first fight wasn't a fluke and it also gives Diaz a crazy momentum towards a sure title shot, most likely at the lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos.

What do you guys think about the proposed Match-ups?
